DAW Setup
Angels works as a standard audio effect plugin. Insert it on an audio track or bus to process audio through its granular engine.
Ableton Live
- In the browser, go to Plug-ins → Audio Units (Mac) or VST3 (Windows/Mac)
- Find Angels and drag it onto an audio track
- Play audio through the track to hear Angels process it
For MIDI triggering, create a MIDI track and set its output to the track containing Angels. Arm the MIDI track and play notes to trigger grains.
Automation
All Angels parameters appear in Ableton's automation lanes. Click the plugin header's configure button to add parameters to the automation chooser.
Tempo Sync
Angels automatically syncs to Ableton's tempo when using tempo-synced parameters (SYNC POSITION, SIZE SYNC, DENSITY SYNC, CLOCK).
Logic Pro
- On an audio track, click an empty insert slot
- Navigate to Audio Units → Sequins → Angels
- Play audio through the track
Automation
Open the automation lane and select Angels parameters from the dropdown. Logic exposes all Angels parameters for automation.
MIDI Triggering
- Create a Software Instrument track
- In the instrument slot, select AU MIDI-controlled Effects → Sequins → Angels
- Set the sidechain input to your audio source
- Play MIDI notes to trigger grains
FL Studio
- Open the Mixer and select a track
- Click an empty insert slot
- Select Angels from the plugin list (VST3)
- Route audio to that mixer track

- Set Angels' MIDI TRIGGER mode to Triggered or Gated
Pro Tools

Reaper
- Click the FX button on an audio track
- Add Angels (VST3 or AU)
- Route audio and MIDI as needed
In Reaper, you can send MIDI to an effect by setting the track's MIDI output to the plugin, or by using Reaper's routing matrix.
General Tips
CPU Usage
Granular processing with high density and multiple randomization sources increases CPU load. If you experience dropouts:
- Increase your DAW's buffer size
- Reduce DENSITY
- Disable unused randomization sources
Latency
Angels introduces minimal latency from its reverbs. Your DAW's plugin delay compensation handles this automatically.
Preset Management
Use your DAW's preset system, or save/load .angels files directly from the plugin header. Angels presets are cross-platform and cross-DAW compatible.
